  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 dashes vanilla extract
  • milk, enough for a thin frosting

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, shortening, and egg yolk.
  2. Gradually add milk until you achieve a dough consistency; divide the dough in half.
  3. Roll out one half on a floured surface until it fits your cookie sheet.
  4. Sprinkle Corn Flakes evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  5. Arrange sliced Granny Smith apples over the Corn Flakes.
  6. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.
  7. Dot with cubed butter for added richness.
  8. Roll out the second half of the dough to cover the apple filling; press edges together to seal.
  9. Beat an egg white with sugar; brush over the top crust.
  10. Cut slits in the top to allow steam to escape during baking.
  11. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F and bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  12. In a bowl, mix powdered sugar with vanilla extract; gradually add milk until you reach a thin frosting consistency.
  13. Once baked, drizzle the thin frosting over your warm pie before serving.
